Today's entry is about one of the most powerful items for those who wish to remain anonymous to their enemies. The wearer of this item is automatically protected from being spied on by someone using a crystal ball or any type of ESP. This latter feature is the real humdinger, in this writer's humble opinion! No clairvoyance, nor any clairaudience! This might also be something that prevents detecting alignment, but that is really up to the DM, as there are other items that directly cover this. It really comes down to the source of the detection, as Psionics would be considered to be ESP, in most cases. This seemingly over-powered item is still really balanced, as it does not provide any bonuses to Psionic attack, but does make the wearer virtually invisible to Psionic type monsters and characters. Remember, most Psionics rely on their ESP abilities to find, understand, and manipulate the world around them, so being effectively invisible to this would be a huge benefit. Also, many powerful wizards and witches rely on valuable info gathered via Crystal Balls and the like. I would rule that other scrying methods would be thwarted by this device, so its not something to be given out lightly. However, on the other hand, it can be very satisfying for the players, frustrated at every encounter, to be able to surprise the evil wizard who is used to this info giving him the upper hand! Definitely something to consider using in a campaign of intrigue or just something to introduce as a twist as the key valuable treasure in some other monster who opposes the scrying wizard. The players will not think much about a simple Amulet in a treasure hoard, but this could be the item to turn the tide at a critical time or in the final fight with the B.B.E.G.!
